Mulled Cider Recipe Alcohol

Now that the weather has turned a corner, you should probably start off with a batch of jessica’s mulled cider. It's called mulled cider because you'll start with a jug of sweet apple cider, and then simmer the beverage over low heat with oranges, cranberries, cinnamon and cloves.

In a large saucepan combine cider and brown sugar.

When you take raw apple cider and ferment it to have an alcohol content. If you add the alcohol in the beginning, it gives the mulled cider a slightly bitter taste. Literally you throw everything into the hot tub and forget about it.

The mulling spices and fruit infuse the cider, transforming it from a cold fruit juice into a warm, flavorful beverage. The wine was amazing and made the house smell so good. Or if on the stove bring to a boil, then drop to simmer and simmer 2 hours, stirring occasionally.

This spiced cider is easily made in the slow cooker (crock pot). We felt that the recipe was a little strong at first but thought that it was better after adding more cider. Wait until the mulling is done, add the booze, and let the flavors meld together for a few minutes, then keep warm and serve.

How do you make mulled hot apple cider? Mulled cider is a sweet cider that has been heated with spices and citrus fruits. I like to use fresh apple cider or unfiltered apple juice for this recipe (look for it in the produce section).

My favorite alcohol to use is a spiced rum. Stir occasionally/rarely to dissolve sugar. Add the sugar and stir it around to dissolve.

It is perfect to enjoy after trick or treating on halloween or as a bonfire night grown up treat! If your cider begins to simmer, lower the heat slightly. We don't drink often, so i'm more likely to make this easy mulled cider recipe slow cooker for a gathering.

To make it easier to serve, place the cloves and spices in a tea ball first, or place in a double layer of cheesecloth or paper coffee filter, gather it up into a sachet, and tie closed with kitchen twine. Once all of the flavors have meld together and the mulled cider is warm enough, feel free to ladle into a mug and drop ½ teaspoon of butter onto the top of each cup. Remove and discard spice bag.

Cover, reduce heat and let simmer for 10 minutes.
